February & March class calendar

If you have a new Babylock machine, call us to sign up for a class. 

Our Mug Rug class begins in March.  This is a new addition this year.  It is for the embroidery machine.  There are two classes available each month - one from 1 pm to 3:30 pm, the other from 5 pm to 7:30 pm.  I will post more details as they become available. 

We are continuing to offer our Serger Foot class and the Embroidery In The Hoop class.  Both of these classes have two times available on the date they are taught - 1 pm to 3:30 pm OR 5 pm to 7:30 pm.  I will post information on cost, etc., soon.

It's not too late to sign up for our first Block of the Month.  Here is a picture of our finished display.  Isn't it cute???  Don't delay - call TODAY 801-266-6942.

We introduced some new classes in January.  Those who have joined us have had a TON of fun, BUT it's not too late.  We are offering new things to make each and every month.  

On February 3 at 1-3 or 5:30-7:30, join us for our second Babylock Serger Feet class.  If you own an Imagine, Enlighten, Evolution or Ovation, come and learn how to use the different presser feet.  We are holding this class on the 1st Tuesday of each month.  We will make a different project each month while working with a variety of presser feet.  Don't worry if you don't have the foot already; we will have some for you to borrow.  On March 3rd, the class will be offered for the Evolution and Ovation machine only.  (We will invite the Imagine and Enlighten owners to join us again in May.)

Call the store to check it out.  The class is $10 which just covers the cost of the project.  This is the cute bag they made in January.

Our next Embroidery In-The-Hoop class will be on February 25th at 5:30 pm.  You don't even have to own an embroidery machine to participate in this class.  You can use one of ours.  A great way to try something new, learn a new technique or simply come and make a cute project.  Cost is $10 plus price of kit (will vary from $5-$15 depending on project).  Did you see the scissor holders they made in January?  Keep an eye peeled for a preview of February's project.

In our Knit and Crochet class, you can learn that pattern that has been sitting there waiting for a chance to be made.  The teacher can help you learn any stitch and give you the confidence to create something beautiful.  Classes are held monthly on the 4th Tuesday at 5:30 pm.  Fee is just $10.

UFO & Sew - Bring a project and come sew with us.  On the 4th Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, our classroom is available.  You can work on "secret projects" or just come and have fun with a roomful of fellow sewers.  Cost is just $5.  Room is limited so call a book a spot now.

Learned to sew in Junior High but haven't touched a machine since?  Know how to sew but have questions like how to put in a zipper?  Attend our Adult Sewing class for help.  We even have machines you can use.  Check the calendar for class dates and times.

Our first Embroidery Retreat for 2015 will be on March 21st.  Sign up quickly because the space is limited.  Cost is just $100 which includes lunch, snacks and project supplies.

The year is now half over!  EEK!! Christmas is coming!  Good thing we have Christmas in July scheduled July 16^th through 26^th.  Shop now to get the supplies and machines you need to complete your Christmas lists.  

July 4th and July 24th -- we will be open from 12 noon to 5 pm.

Kid’s Club – Our kid’s summer sewing program is back!  Our second session starts July 3 with additional classes on July 10, 17 & 31.  For just $125, your young sewing enthusiast can make this great “Bakers set” in just four classes.  Projects include an apron, oven mitt and chef hat.  Call NOW to sign up.  Class starts at 10:30 am.  Ages 8 to 12. 

Block Party – Since Independence Day is Friday, July 4^th, we will be holding Block Party of July 11^th and July 12^th.   If you would like to join us, call the store for hours (801-266-6942).

 Serger Retreat -- Calling all Ovation and Evolution owners.  Join us on July 11 OR July 12 for our first Serger Retreat.  We will make fun projects and help you to learn more about your wonderful machine.  Just $99.99 for lunch and supplies.  

Knit/Crochet – Want to learn how to knit or crochet?  Need a refresher course?  Love these scarves and want to know how to make them?  For just $15, Ann will help you decipher crochet or knitting patterns, master the triple-crochet or help you to recall the skills that once were lost.  Classes will be held on July 17 and August 21.

Beginning Sewing – Each month, Carolyn will teach beginning sewers new skills like inserting a zipper, sewing articles of clothing or useful items for storage and fun.  Each class is $20 per session.  On July 25, August 21 and September 12, Carolyn is having an “Open Sew” which means you can bring whatever project you are working on OR want to work on and she will help you out.

Embroidery Club – Join us on July 19 for Embroidery Club at the Murray store.  We will display and educate on different techniques, projects and so much more.  Don’t forget to bring your own show-n-tell items.  Look at all the wonderful projects that were submitted for the Quilt Challenge.

March & April class calendars

March Machine Madness begins March 10 and goes through March 22 with great deals on machines.  Fabric Frenzy is on March 13th.  Lots and lots of sales!  

Join us for Embroidery Club on March 15th at 10 am.  Remember the challenge to take a non Easter design and create something for Easter.  Bring a sample of the original - sewn out or a picture.  Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.  We are cancelling Embroidery Club in April so you all can attend Stitching Sisters.

Girls Night Out - April 5 from 4-8 pm.

Quilting 101  - A six part class for sewers that would like to learn the art of piece quilting.  Each class will be two hours long.  Jolene will teach basic quilting skills while helping you create a beautiful four block table topper.  Classes will begin April 2.  Class fee is $75 plus supplies.  Quilt kits will be available.

Quilt Tying – Join us for the three part class introducing the art of quilt tying.  Each class will be an hour long starting April 3.  Jolene will teach how to choose the right fabric, the proper care of your fabric, different quilting patterns and so much more.  Sign up now for just $30.

Time with Teresa – Placemat   Summer is on its way! Get ready for some fun picnicking with these cute placemats! They roll up and tie closed for easy carrying and they even have a convenient zipper pocket on one side to hold your napkin and utensils!  Classes will fill up quick so be sure to sign up early!  Class is on April 10 and is $15 plus supplies. 
 

Beginning Sewing – Each month, Carolyn will teach beginning sewers new skills like inserting a zipper, sewing articles of clothing or useful items for storage and fun. Each class is $20 per session.  Selvage Bag – April 11 - Create unique and colorful fabric by using your selvages!   Selvages are the tightly woven finished edges that run the entire length of your yardage.   They often have writing, or colored circles that show all of the colors used in that fabric.  Trim your selvage strips at least 1 ½” – 2” wide so you see some of the fabric pattern.  These are sewn onto a foundation fabric, hiding all the raw edges.  The class project will be a zippered bag, but you can create any item once you create your own fabric sewn with selvages.

Family Fun Night

BLOCK PARTY -- July 12 (10 & 10:30 am) & July 13 (9:30, 10 & 10:30 am).  Don't forget your show & tell.  We want to post them on our Facebook page.

Learn to Sew with Carolyn -- July 12 at 5:30 pm.  Sign up for this beginners sewing class and make two simple Triangle Totes with Carolyn.  You will learn how to insert a zipper plus other fun techniques.  Cost is just $20 per class.  Sign up soon and get the list of materials needed.

Knit / Crochet with Ann -- July 18 - 5:30 pm.  Ann wants to share her love of knitting and crocheting with you.  Let her teach you a new skill or brush up on what you already know.  You can even make one of these beautiful scarves.  Just ask her how.

Embroidery Club -- July 20 - 10 am.  It's hot, Hot, HOT in here.  Don't get "hot under the collar" though - come and learn how to fix those pesky embroidery problems.  Don't forget your show & tell items -- we just LOVE to see what you create.

Rag Quilt class -- July 25 at 5:30.  Want to learn how to make a cute flannel rag quilt?  Sign up now and let us help you make that wish come true.

 FUN & DONE -- July 27 & Aug 3 at 1:30 pm.  Our kid's sewing class will be making this adorable Triple Tiered Skirt.   Just $20 for this two-session class.

From the elastic waist to the flounce of the bottom tier, this skirt is a quick and easy project that can be made for children (sizes 4-16) and adults (sizes 2-28). Whether you mix and match three different fabrics, like the sample, or decide to use only one, you'll follow a chart to choose the size and length of each tier and finish the skirt by learning how simple gathering and making an elastic casing can be. Make the matching "Knot an Ordinary Purse" (August's project) to have a cute outfit that you'll make again and again in different fabric combinations. 

 

FUN & DONE - Knot an Ordinary Purse -
August 24 @ 1:30 pm  Easy piecing is sure to make this fashionable sling purse an oft-repeated project. Cut to hold a generous amount of books or your walking-about necessities, this bag is lined with contrast fabric and its long handles can be adjusted slightly in length by where you choose to tie the knot.  Make it in fabrics that match the Triple Tiered Skirt (July's project) and you'll have a stylin' outfit for the start of school.  Class fee is $15.
