February classes

It's not too late to sign up for our first Block of the Month.  Here is a picture of our finished display.  Isn't it cute???  Don't delay - call TODAY 801-266-6942.

We introduced some new classes in January.  Those who have joined us have had a TON of fun, BUT it's not too late.  We are offering new things to make each and every month.  

On February 3 at 1-3 or 5:30-7:30, join us for our second Babylock Serger Feet class.  If you own an Imagine, Enlighten, Evolution or Ovation, come and learn how to use the different presser feet.  We are holding this class on the 1st Tuesday of each month.  We will make a different project each month while working with a variety of presser feet.  Don't worry if you don't have the foot already; we will have some for you to borrow.  On March 3rd, the class will be offered for the Evolution and Ovation machine only.  (We will invite the Imagine and Enlighten owners to join us again in May.)

Call the store to check it out.  The class is $10 which just covers the cost of the project.  This is the cute bag they made in January.

Our next Embroidery In-The-Hoop class will be on February 25th at 5:30 pm.  You don't even have to own an embroidery machine to participate in this class.  You can use one of ours.  A great way to try something new, learn a new technique or simply come and make a cute project.  Cost is $10 plus price of kit (will vary from $5-$15 depending on project).  Did you see the scissor holders they made in January?  Keep an eye peeled for a preview of February's project.

In our Knit and Crochet class, you can learn that pattern that has been sitting there waiting for a chance to be made.  The teacher can help you learn any stitch and give you the confidence to create something beautiful.  Classes are held monthly on the 4th Tuesday at 5:30 pm.  Fee is just $10.

UFO & Sew - Bring a project and come sew with us.  On the 4th Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, our classroom is available.  You can work on "secret projects" or just come and have fun with a roomful of fellow sewers.  Cost is just $5.  Room is limited so call a book a spot now.

Learned to sew in Junior High but haven't touched a machine since?  Know how to sew but have questions like how to put in a zipper?  Attend our Adult Sewing class for help.  We even have machines you can use.  Check the calendar for class dates and times.

Make sure to mark your calendar NOW for our Embroidery Club. We meet on the 3rd Saturday at 10.  We show different ideas, projects and techniques.  Fun prizes are given away at each meeting.  Bring a show & tell item.  Who else can really appreciate your hard work like us?  No sign up is necessary.  Just come and have fun!

March Machine Madness begins March 10 and goes through March 22 with great deals on machines.  Fabric Frenzy is on March 13th.  Lots and lots of sales!  

Join us for Embroidery Club on March 15th at 10 am.  Remember the challenge to take a non Easter design and create something for Easter.  Bring a sample of the original - sewn out or a picture.  Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.  We are cancelling Embroidery Club in April so you all can attend Stitching Sisters.

Knit/Crochet – Want to learn how to knit or crochet?  Need a refresher course?  Love these scarves and want to know how to make them?  For just $15, Ann will help you decipher crochet or knitting patterns, master the triple-crochet or help you to recall the skills that once were lost.  Classes will be held on March 20 and April 17.

Rag quilts are an easy project to create for a new baby.  Meet with Irene on March 27 to learn this fun way to make a quilt.

Girls Night Out - April 5 from 4-8 pm.

Quilting 101  - A six part class for sewers that would like to learn the art of piece quilting.  Each class will be two hours long.  Jolene will teach basic quilting skills while helping you create a beautiful four block table topper.  Classes will begin April 2.  Class fee is $75 plus supplies.  Quilt kits will be available.

Quilt Tying – Join us for the three part class introducing the art of quilt tying.  Each class will be an hour long starting April 3.  Jolene will teach how to choose the right fabric, the proper care of your fabric, different quilting patterns and so much more.  Sign up now for just $30.

Time with Teresa – Placemat   Summer is on its way! Get ready for some fun picnicking with these cute placemats! They roll up and tie closed for easy carrying and they even have a convenient zipper pocket on one side to hold your napkin and utensils!  Classes will fill up quick so be sure to sign up early!  Class is on April 10 and is $15 plus supplies. 
 

Beginning Sewing – Each month, Carolyn will teach beginning sewers new skills like inserting a zipper, sewing articles of clothing or useful items for storage and fun. Each class is $20 per session.  Selvage Bag – April 11 - Create unique and colorful fabric by using your selvages!   Selvages are the tightly woven finished edges that run the entire length of your yardage.   They often have writing, or colored circles that show all of the colors used in that fabric.  Trim your selvage strips at least 1 ½” – 2” wide so you see some of the fabric pattern.  These are sewn onto a foundation fabric, hiding all the raw edges.  The class project will be a zippered bag, but you can create any item once you create your own fabric sewn with selvages.

Block Party 2014

It’s not too late to join our new Block Party. We have extended the sign-up deadline to February 15^th.  Until then, the cost is still just $85 for the year.  (You will receive January block at no additional cost if you sign up before the deadline.)  Attend the next class on February 28 (10 or 10:30) or March 1 (9:30, 10 or 10:30). 

Beginning sewing with Carolyn – Fleece Jacket

Fleece jackets are wonderful this time of year.  Carolyn will help you modify a pattern to fit just right.  When you call to sign up, make sure to get the suggested pattern numbers.  This is a 2-part class, beginning February 7 at 5:30 and continuing February 21 at 5:30.  Come and learn some new skills with a sewing machine.  If you don't own a machine, we have some classroom ones that you can use.   Cost is $20 plus supplies.

Aprons Aplenty – Sweetheart Apron

Come create this retro apron just in time for Valentine’s Day.  We will be using lots of fun sewing techniques; making our own piping (how nice not to be limited to what is on the store shelves), gathering ruffles, learning to insert godets.  Needless to say, this is a class for those who have a solid sewing foundation.  Be sure to ask for the supply list when you sign up.  Cost is $15 for class and $8 for the pattern.  The class will be held on February 11 from 11-2. 

Knit/Crochet class
Our talented teacher, Ann, can show you how to knit or crochet.  She can even help you read Grandma's old knit hat pattern.  Come give us a try for just $10 per class.  In February, we are meeting on February 20 (5:30-7:30).

Embroidery Club
Want some new ideas for machine embroidery or want to share what you have made?  Join us on February 15 for our Embroidery Club.  We love to see what you have been doing, so don’t forget your show & tell.  We have fun ideas in store for you too.  Anyone can attend - you don't even have to own an embroidery machine, but we want to warn you - after you see all of the fun things you can do, you will want one.  Check out of Facebook page to see what everyone brought in January.

BLOCK PARTY -- We have been having a BLAST with our new Block of the Month this year.  This is a photo of the block we made for February.  Participants - do you have yours done?  Next classes will be held March 1 - 10 am or 10:30 am; March 2 - 9:30 am, 10 am or 10:30 am.  Haven't joined yet?  It's not too late.  Come join us in the fun!



SNAP BAG class -- Want a quick and easy project?  Try making a snap bag.  In fact, make two or three.  Didn't we say they were quick and easy?  Join us on March 6th at 6 pm to give it a try.  Call now to sign up!



SERGER CLUB -- Do you own a serger but don’t know how to use it?  Would you like to do more than just finish seams?  If you answered YES to either question, then come join us at the first ever Serger Club, where you will learn all about your serger by making a variety of different projects that will teach you the many techniques a serger can do.  Join us March 9^th from 2 pm to 5:30 pm.

 At first, we will start with simple projects that can be completed the same day.  Each month you will work on a project in class, learning new techniques and ways to use your serger.  Taught by a Martha Pullen licensed teacher, projects will be taken from Martha Pullen curriculums and other sources so there will be a wide variety of projects for you to work on and learn from.

The first meeting will be “Getting to know your serger”.  You will learn about the features of your serger and stitches that it makes.  (ALL brands welcome.)  You will also make a sample reference workbook of stitches that you can refer back to for help.  You won’t want to miss this class!  It provides a sound foundation on which to build.  The next month, we will make 2 baby items that will be your go-to gifts any time you need a quick baby gift.  Later, we can tackle larger projects that will take 2 to 4 meetings to complete.

Kits will be available for many classes and some months you will use fabrics from your own stash.  Cost is $25 per month for the class.  The kit prices will vary depending on the project.  Kits for March will be $7.

EMBROIDERY EXTRAVAGANZA -- Join us for a fun-filled day of embroidery sewing, even if you have never machine embroidered before.  Cost is just $99.99 which includes the projects, lunch, snacks and TONS of fun.  If you have an embroidery machine - sign up for the March 15 class (any brand).  If you aren't an owner, March 16 is the day for you.  Warning:  You just might become hooked! 


 SIMON'S FOLLEY --  Want to make a machine embroidery quilt but feeling intimidated?  Come and learn how to achieve your goal on Saturday, March 16 at 1 pm.  (Software pre-purchase is requited so contact the store for details.)

KNIT OR CROCHET class --  Do you want to learn how to make an aphgan or one those darling scarves that are all the rage?  Join us on March 21st at 5:30 pm to learn how to crochet or knit a project of your choice.  Beginners welcome!   



 EMBROIDERY CLUB --  Our Embroider Club will be on March 23 at 10 am this month (which is the fourth Saturday, instead of the third).  (Embroidery Extravaganza is scheduled for March 16th.)  Please help us CELEBRATE this entire year with your great ideas and time savings tips.  Remember to bring your show & tell items.  Who else can appreciate all of your hard work like a room full of  your peers?  See you there!!
